How big a dent can be repaired?

An experienced Paintless Dent Repair or PDR Technician will look at a number of factors when assessing if a dent is suitable for PDR.

Limiting factors for a successful repair using PDR include:

  • Flexibility of the paint (although most of today's refined automotive paint finishes allow for successful PDR)
  • The extent to which the metal has been stretched by the damage, which also depends on
    • the thickness of the metal
    • the cuvature of the metal
    • the flatness of the metal
  • Where the damage occurred
  • The intensity of the impact.

Generally speaking, the shallower the dent, the greater the likelihood of paintless dent repair being a suitable option. Even quite large dents can be repaired by this method as long as the metal and paint are not stretched.

Dent Division will assess all dents and advise customer's on the best course of action.
